Dr. Michael H. Rizkalla joined the PSSM team full-time upon completing a yearlong fellowship training under Dr. Matthias Wiederholz in 2012. He is fellowship trained as an interventional pain physician. His clinical interests include Spine and Joint care, Sports Medicine, Electrodiagnostic and Neuromuscular Medicine, as well as non-surgical Orthopedics. He is also licensed to practice medical acupuncture.

He is a graduate of the Harvard Medical School/Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in Boston, Massachusetts. Upon completing his residency training, Dr. Rizkalla decided to subspecialize in Sports Medicine and Interventional pain management. He is trained to perform a variety of interventional pain procedures such as epidural steroid injections. Sacroiliac joint injections, facet joint injections and radiofrequency ablation, discography, and spinal cord stimulation. He also performs regenerative injection treatments into joints and tendons, such as prolotherapy, platelet rich plasma, and stem cells under direct musculoskeletal ultrasound guidance.

Dr. Rizkalla has been providing medical acupuncture treatments since 2010. He practices neurofunctional contemporary medical acupuncture to alter pain sensory pathways and improve function.
